If you have not been to downtown Marietta, GA, I highly recommend it! I love to visit on Saturday mornings because that is when the open air farmer’s market is in full swing. It is one of the best farmer’s markets I have visited in the Atlanta area.
They have the things you expect like locally grown fruits and veggies, local honey. But the variety of vendors that participate is what makes it worth revisiting each weekend. There is usually a baker or two; a meat seller (I think he sells jerky); soap makers; essential oils; pasta (I’m a sucker for fresh pasta), coffee, dog treats (Ande’s favorite vendor). There are always beautiful fresh cut flowers as well as potted plants and shrubs. It’s hard to not spend money here! And, of course, King of Pops is there.
If you have kids, there’s a small play area in the center of the square with a fire engine. It’s a great spot to let them run off some energy.
The square is full of eateries and shops. My favorite is The Local Exchange. And I am honored that they sell my products! This shop lives up to its name. Almost everything in the store is made here in Georgia.
They refer to themselves as a modern day general store, and that is EXACTLY what they are! They offer everything from locally made foods to local art. It’s located in a two story building. The lower level has all the foods and gift items; the upper level is an art gallery. Their prices are very fair and the variety is great…you should be able to find something for anyone here.
‘Til next time,
